Sapana means  ‘Dream’ in Nepali

The Sapana Women Skill Development Project aims to teach local women a skill and help them provide for themselves and their families, so our name has been chosen with good reason.
We make fashion accessories, toys, living accessories and decoration of textiles and new items from recycled materials.
The production mainly focuses on the international market, but we also sell locally in the factory and our shop.
We regularly invite volunteers and designers to help us design new items. This way we constantly add new designs to our product line and keep on investing in learning new skills and techniques.

Our customers

We mainly sell our products wholesale to companies. We are very proud we have made a few big orders for the Dutch department store HEMA and Return to Sender.
We also have a shop in Sauraha, Chitwan Nepal. Here we sell our products to the tourists who visit Chitwan National Park.

Katja Schuurman, a Dutch actress and founder of Return to Sender, visited Sapana Women Skill Development Project to make an episode of her TV show with us. You can watch the episode online, we were on episode 1 (our name was Tharu Dauw at that time, so don’t get confused, it is really about us).

Fair Trade

We are a Fair Trade organisation, which means we ask a fair price for our products and work according to the Fair Trade principles.

In our region there are several projects, set up by the Sapana Village Organisation, that aim to alleviate poverty, create employment and entrepreneurship, improve education and provide healthcare. The initiatives empower and stimulate each other.
